I do think its extremely funny that after reading the dwarves having a short break and then taking a couple of weeks to get moving again, the same happened with me. Oops!
I read the the next couple of chapters of The Hobbit and then took some time to set up my computer... and then two weeks vanished as I got back into my usual rhythms. I've never set up my machine before myself. With chronic pain, stiffness, sinus issues and stifling anxiety making me feel like I can only mess it up, its always felt a bit difficult to give it a shot. People have been very kind and usually helped. This time, I felt a burst of confidence and managed to get it all together. Little victory but it really made me feel better about myself.
Since then, I've been obsessed with Caveman 2 Cosmos (an ongoing mod for Civilization 4) and working to overcome some more of my anxieties by installing Windows 3.1 and 95 to dosbox. After years of taxing technophobia, nothing gives you a bigger boost then getting an unhappy Soundblaster driver to work. I paused my reading of The Hobbit whilst I got things sorted out because I was having a hard time with writing much and juggling work and games and what not, but I'll resume once I get myself a bit more together and write up on the last couple of chapters I read. I'm looking forward to it but I'll want to re-read as a refresher. I just passed through Gollum country in the book and it makes for a great chapter.
I've been thinking of expanding things as I go with my blogging. As I've been prodding at dosbox stuff, I feel like it might be fun to do some write-ups on the dos games that I play too. There's a few more well known games I was really into as a kid (Red Alert, Theme Hospital, Doom) and some that are more obscure that I think are deserving of some attention too (Creature Shock, Krypton Egg, Z).
There's so much to do and I'm looking forward to it all so much! Thanks for bearing with me, two people who read my blogs, heheh. I'm wondering if I should spruce them up with some illustrations now that I have my computer again.
